In part one of this two-part blog series, we went over some of the basics on why the shape of your hot tub is important when selecting it, plus some qualities of common rectangle and square hot tubs. These are the most common shapes used for hot tubs today, but they are far from the only options you have available either.
At Dolphin Pools & Spas, we’re proud to serve as a licensed dealer of Bullfrog Spas, and we provide clients with the very best hot tub products and services in the industry. Today’s part two of our series will look into a few other shape types you might consider for your hot tub.
Round
Another common and popular shape option is the round hot tub. This type of spa usually has a symmetrical shape and offers excellent hydrotherapy benefits depending on its size. Round hot tubs are great for couples or smaller groups – up to four people comfortably – and they’re also excellent space savers since they don’t require much room for installation.
If you’re looking into a round hot tub, there are a few things to consider. Firstly, your jet placement will have to be carefully thought out since the space for jets is limited compared to larger models like rectangular or square hot tubs. Also, if you’re looking for a more modern look and feel, round hot tubs are usually more traditional in their design.
Oval
Oval hot tubs are a great compromise between round and rectangular models. They provide enough room for up to six people to comfortably sit inside, with the ability to install more jets than round hot tubs can typically offer.
They also offer a more contemporary look compared to round hot tubs, which is great if you have a modern-style backyard or deck. However, oval hot tubs can take up a bit more space than other models, depending on the size you choose.
Custom or Specialty Shapes
Finally, for those who are looking for something truly unique, custom or specialty shapes are also an option. These may include freeform hot tubs which offer a more natural look and shape, as well as octagonal models.
The benefit of custom-shaped hot tubs is that you can create them in any size or shape that suits your needs. However, they’re also usually more expensive than other models, so you’ll have to consider your budget when deciding which hot tub shape is right for you.
